A leading sinologist and expert on Chinese elite politics,Professor Willy Lam is an adjunct professor in the history department and the Center for China Studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is also a senior fellow at the Jamestown Foundation, a Washington DC-based think tank. Professor Lam frequently writes for Foreign Policy and has recently released a new book, Chinese Politics in the Era of Xi Jinping: Renaissance, Reform or Retrogression?

Public Lecture: The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank

This lecture is hosted by Flinders University, Australia China Young Professional Initiative (ACYPI) and Young Australians in International Affairs (YAIIA), with the support of the Confucius Institute. The discussion will focus on China’s infrastructure-based diplomacy, including the AIIB. Australia’s role in the new bank, pros and cons of joining and the opportunities for Australian business will also be discussed.

Confucius Institute China Briefing & Book Signing: Xi Jinping’s Leadership Style & Policies

Please join the Confucius Institute for the first China Briefing of 2015. We are excited to announce an outstanding panel dedicated to discussing President Xi in more detail, including his foreign policy strategy and the anti-corruption campaign. After the panel discussion Professor Lam will be selling and signing his new book.

This roundtable is hosted by the University of Adelaide’s Department of Asian Studies and the Confucius Institute. Professor Lam will talk about the career, ideology and statecraft of the Fifth-Generation leader. After the presentation the discussion will be open to audience participation
