Conference 2017 – Classical and Literary Chinese Reading Group

The Classical and Literary Chinese Reading Group will convene as part of the Chinese Studies Association of Australia’s 15th Biennial Conference. It will bring together those with an interest in the textual cultures of the pre-modern period. It will centre on the collective reading, translation, and discussion of a pre-circulated text. Its emphasis will be on close reading and depth of philological understanding: the final aim will be to produce a high-quality translation of the text at hand, and to acquire as precise a sense as possible of its linguistic structures and intellectual import.

This is a free event and open to all interested. To receive a copy of the text before the meeting, please contact Mark Strange (mark.strange@anu.edu.au) and Wai-hung Lam (wai-hung.lam@mq.edu.au).
