2017 Young Scholars’ Forum in Chinese Studies

The Chinese University of Hong Kong-Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation Asia-Pacific Centre for Chinese Studies and the Institute of Chinese Studies co-organize the Fourth Young Scholars’ Forum in Chinese Studies, to be held on May 25-27, 2017. The forum aims to nurture young scholars in Chinese Studies and strengthen the network among young scholars in the field.

The forum plans to invite Ph.D. students (after completing qualifying examination) or Ph.D. graduates with less than 5 years of work experience for presentation of their recent research output on any aspect of Chinese studies, drawing on but not limited to the disciplines of history, literature, religion, art and thought. Proposals related to the theme of Cultural Exchange between China and Inter-Asia are preferable. Participants are expected to be proficient in both English and Chinese.

The conference will only cover expenses for lodging and round-trip transportation (economy class) for the participants. The organizer will provide maximum subsidy of 1,000 USD (subject to approval). Conference registration is free.

Papers will be selected by a committee from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Local faculty will serve as discussants for the selected papers. Publication for selected papers will be considered after the forum.
