Join us for this book launch by Professor Bruce Jacobs exploring the Kaohsiung Incident of 1979-1980. He’ll give insight into this event which disturbed Taiwan’s dictatorship and ultimately contributed to Taiwan’s democratisation. The book will be launched by Professor J.S. (Jack) Gregory.

The Kaohsiung Incident of 1979-1980 disturbed Taiwan’s dictatorship and ultimately contributed to Taiwan’s democratization. This first part of the book analyzes the precursors to the Kaohsiung Incident, the Kaohsiung Incident itself, the following trials and the contributions of these events to Taiwan’s democratization. In the second half, Bruce Jacobs’ provides a compelling and personal memoir of that period.
